Button Bucks

Posted by admin

Many hunters want to protect buck fawns, those inglorious “button bucks.” Identifying button bucks can be tough, but you can do it. Button bucks often travel alone; adult does, rarely. Buck fawns are squarish in body shape, whereas mature does are more rectangular. Glass the deer’s head. Even if you can’t make out the antler buds, a buck’s head is flat between the ears compared with a doe’s more rounded skull.

live chicken as coyote bait

Posted by admin

Well recently I wanted to get a live chicken to use while hunting yotes. I knew it would be a great way to attract a predator. There is one lone tree in the middle of the clear cut that we are going to hunt, and decided it would be a good idea to tie up the chicken there. I looked all around the web and read through Maine’s laws and regulations, but couldn’t find anything saying that this would be illegal. The first person I contacted regarding this was from a Maine coyote hunting website and his response was definitely illegal. I still was not convinced because I could not locate this law anywhere, and I read through the hunting laws many times.

Hello everyone, let me introduce myself. My name is Alex I have been hunting for 9 years now. I have had bad years and good ones as we all have had. Me and Dave are brother in laws and are hunting partners. I generally hunt with a Remington 30-06 180 grain remington bullet, or a remington 870 express magnum shotgun with a 3 inch copper solid slug. This past year Me and Dave have begun to hunt Coyote. We are trying different methods so far such as Bait, electronic and mouth calling and hunting at night with a permit. I did receive positive news tonight that a friend of the family requested we hunt their property for coyotes, which is huge for someone to do in this area of the state. So maybe Sunday we will head over check the property out and hopefully start to get some good photos for you all. That’s a little about me and keep checking back for further info, photos and anything else
