Presented by Bernard+Associates: In 1908, residents of Coahuila, Mexico, lived in fear of a large male grizzly that had laid claim to a stretch of road leading into the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Vaqueros in the region avoided moving their stock down the road, which was known as Camino Real. Those who traveled Real were faced with the possibility of a dangerous encounter with the legendary bruin.
Presented by Bernard+Associates: Apart, as the dogs beneath them did, the moment they were born. They number only four and sooner than later now – when my own days are spent, and the better part of me lies there with them – I expect at most but six. Could I live long enough to breed and have and hunt over another hundred, I know as a dog man there could be only a small few more.
Presented by Bernard+Associates: It was a hot and dry September day in Tanzania, just south of the little village of Loiborserrit. We left our camp under the stand of tall fig trees and drove off in the hunting car with clients Clarence and Carol, bouncing over tracks someone had the audacity to call roads. We were looking for a good lion in a heavily hunted concession, which meant the big cats were well-educated and keeping to cover during the day.
Frankly, it’s just too darn bad that good looks can’t kill coyotes. If that were the case, the Nikon “Coyote Special,” a fairly new addition to the line-up offered by the world-class optics company, would slay them dead the second they stepped into view.
Presented by Bernard+Associates: A few years ago my wife suggested I find a cottage “Up North,” as we say in Wisconsin, where we could spend a week’s vacation in midsummer. It had to be on a lake, of course, and it had to have that woodsy, rustic character that all the cottages we remember from our youth seemed to have, but distressingly few have today.
It’s apparent that media, as a whole, is beginning to sit up and take note of hunters. Not only does flipping through the satellite or cable channels give you an idea of how far hunting and fishing have come in terms of their own presence on television, but sitting down and watching national weather and news programs shows what an impact hunting is making.
