Kershaw Skyline is the Perfect Pocket Knife

It’s been a long time since I found a pocket knife that I carry all the time. Back when I was in high school and college, I carried around one of Schrade’s Old Timer knives. It was my favorite thing, having been given to me as a gift and used to field dress my very first deer and a whole slew of game since. My first year of college, however, that knife was stolen out of my truck while I was working one night. I haven’t had a permanent pocket knife since.

That is, until Kershaw sent me the Skyline. This knife is with me all the time. I really am impressed with it. It fits well into my hand, is easy to handle and has a very secure lock that doesn’t make you think in the back of your mind that it’s going to let go when you least expect it.

The blade is very easy to open. On the back there is a “flipper” mechanism that makes it a cinch to open with either your left or right hand. In addition, there’s a thumb post on both sides of the blade, too.

The handle is made out of a textured material and measures just over four inches in length. It gives an incredible grip and I didn’t think twice about using it in the rain the other day. It didn’t slip at all.

The blade itself is made of Sandvik stainless steel and measures at about 3 ¼ inches. The blade is tough. I’ve been using it for about two months now and have abused it in every way possible. I have just one tiny chip near the tip after using it to pry a fossil out of the ground. Other than that, this thing has withstood quite the beating. Even with the abuse this knife took, the blade is still secure, the lock is still tight and the edge is still plenty sharp. I should know, I nicked myself with it while whittling the other day.

This knife also features a removable belt clip as well as a hole in the handle for tying it to a line or for securing around your wrist with a loop.

This knife hasn’t left my pocket since I got it from Kershaw, and I can already see myself buying a replacement and taking much better care of it.

If you’re in the hunt for a new pocket knife, then I’d definitely suggest Kershaw’s Skyline. It’s well priced, too, selling for just $25 on Amazon (with free shipping!) and Wal-Mart.
